West Capo Plaia is a bathing area located in Cefalù, Sicily, near residential structures that see increased visitor numbers during the summer season. The beach extends to the Capo Plaia cliff formation and features Mediterranean vegetation. The water quality is classified as good for the period 2019–2024.

Coastal waters. The bathing area extends 1,400 metres and includes a beach transitioning into the Capo Plaia cliff formation. The hydrographic basin is Palermo–Cefalù.

Location

Cefalù, Province of Palermo, Sicily. Coordinates: 38.0273–13.9449 (start) to 38.0315–13.952 (end). The area extends for 1,400 metres. Accessibility was a criterion for site selection.

Water Quality

Classification: Good (2019–2024). No bathing bans are in place. No short-term pollution events have been reported. No anomalous events have been recorded in the past 8 years.

Risks

Although the area is near zones of high human activity, no cyanobacteria proliferation events, macroalgae blooms, phytoplankton proliferation, or potentially toxic species events have been reported in the past 4 years.
