This is a bathing water area located 250 meters to the right of the Pantanello Canal near Rome. The beach consists of sandy substrate with equipped beach areas. The site is situated within the Tiber River estuary system and extends approximately 1394 meters. Water quality at this location has been classified as elevated.

Rome, Lazio region, Italy. The bathing area is designated as category C and is part of the Tiber River to Pratica di Mare water body system.

Equipped beach areas are present. Free beach access is available.

Profile prepared in March 2011 with planned review and update in 2012.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated (based on 95th and 90th percentile monitoring parameters). Twenty-five urban wastewater treatment plants with capacity greater than 2000 population equivalents are active in Rome municipality. No specific monitoring programs are currently active to measure pollutant concentrations and limit their diffusion during the bathing season.

Risks

Mollusiculture activities are identified as a pollution source. Short-term pollution events are still under study for appropriate modelling approaches. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded. The area is not subject to macroalgae and/or microalgae blooms.
