This bathing water area is located 250 meters to the left of the Fosso Campo Ascolano estuary in Pomezia, Lazio region. The area extends approximately 1076 meters along the coast. The beach structure is predominantly sandy with equipped bathing areas and free beach sections. Adjacent features include nearby streams and fosses, but the area is not significantly affected by urbanization or industrial development.

Pomezia, Rome province, Lazio region, Italy. The bathing water extends from Pratica di Mare to Rio Torto.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated (based on 95th and 90th percentile parameters). No specific active monitoring for pollutant concentration and diffusion has been recorded as of the profile date. Three urban wastewater treatment plants serving populations over 2000 equivalent inhabitants are active in the municipality.

Risks

Shellfish farming is present in the area. The area is not subject to blooms of macroalgae and/or potentially toxic microalgae. An appropriate modeling approach for assessing short-duration pollution events is still under study.
