A rocky coastal bathing area located 500 metres south of point 68 in the municipality of Tricase, province of Lecce, Puglia. The area covers 1.73 square kilometres and has been classified as excellent water quality based on monitoring data from 2017 to 2020. The bathing water is part of the Otranto–Santa Maria di Leuca water body.

Coastal marine water body. Area: 1.73 square kilometres. The Poggiardo hydrographic basin drains into this area.

Location

Tricase, Lecce province, Puglia region. The area is located at the southern limit near the mouth of the Rio Canal.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). A potential pollution source is located at the southern limit where the Tricase wastewater treatment plant discharges into the mouth of the Rio Canal. No direct wastewater discharges to sea are present. No short-term pollution events were recorded in the past four years.

Risks

No cyanobacterial blooms or algal proliferation events were detected. No toxic algal strains have been identified. No anomalous situations have occurred.
