This is a bathing water area located 600 metres south of the Alaca River in Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio, Calabria. The beach is characterized by a geomorphological descriptor of a strait coastal litorale with a gentle average seafloor slope of 1.1% from the waterline to the 5-metre isobath. Beach sediments have granulometry ranging from 0.13 to 2 millimetres. The water body encompasses an area of 1.158 square kilometres and is classified as excellent quality.

Location

Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria. The bathing water is located in the area facing agricultural territories south of the Alaca River.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The bathing water is impacted by short-duration pollution events caused by runoff from agricultural areas via the following watercourse outlets: Torrente Carenci, Fosso Pinarella, Fosso Cannala, and Burrone di Bruno. No specific management measures are currently in place.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from runoff originating in agricultural areas. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have occurred in the previous four years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been recorded.
