Location

Crotone, Calabria, Italy. The bathing water is situated in the municipality of Crotone, approximately 4 km south of the Neto River. The area faces agricultural and wooded territories to the north.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The Talesi Stream is the watershed. Wastewater treatment is managed by the Scandale depuration plant (Corazzo location) using activated sludge biological treatment.

Risks

The mouth of the Talesi Stream has been identified as a source of pollution. Accidental depuration plant malfunction and overflow from the Scandale depuration plant have been recorded as short-duration pollution events. Cyanobacteria proliferation has not been verified in the past four years. Macroalgae, phytoplankton, and potentially toxic species proliferation have not been verified.
