Alta Fiumara is an excellent quality bathing water located in the Calabria region of southern Italy. The beach features a terraced coastal geomorphology with submarine sediments ranging from 0.18 to 2 mm in grain size. The bathing area is situated in front of the Porticello urban centre along the Bagnara–Villa San Giovanni coastal water body.

Location

Villa San Giovanni, Reggio Calabria province, Calabria region. The area is located in front of Porticello town.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The main identified pollution source is the mouth of the Fiumara di Santa Trada. Short-term pollution events are characterised by runoff from urban areas.

Risks

Runoff events from urban areas may occur via the Fiumara di Santa Trada mouth. Anomalous situations and harmful algal proliferation have not been recorded in the previous four years.
