Cala Grande is a bathing area on Favignana island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, composed almost entirely of rocks interrupted by a sandy beach approximately 15 metres wide. The area experiences high visitor numbers during the summer season and is located within the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area. The bathing water is classified as excellent quality.

Location

Favignana, Sicily, in the province of Trapani. Coordinates: latitude 37.9351–37.9257, longitude 12.2770–12.2783. A tourist village is located nearby.

Facilities

Tourist village available. Dogs are prohibited as per regional decree 476/2007, except in designated areas not yet communicated by the competent authority.

Monitoring period: June 2024. Profile review scheduled for 2028.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No pollution sources have been identified. The nearby tourist facility has its own wastewater treatment plant.
