France River 2 - Good

Ardus Beach is a declared, developed, and supervised bathing site located on the Aveyron River at Lamothe-Capdeville. The beach consists of a sand area brought in by the Grand Montauban. The site is managed by the municipality and has remained relatively unchanged since its initial profile establishment in 2011. Water quality classification has fluctuated between Good Quality and Sufficient Quality since 2011, with a downgrade to Insufficient Quality in 2017 and another downgrade to Sufficient Quality in 2021, primarily due to sensitivity to rainfall events.

Water

The Aveyron River. The beach comprises an imported sand zone.

Location

Lamothe-Capdeville, on the Aveyron River at the village level. A significant parking area is located immediately adjacent to the bathing site.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities, shower point, surveillance post, lifeguard post, full food service (restaurant), regulatory signage, parking, automatic barrier, security camera. Animals are prohibited; lifeguards are instructed to remove dogs from the water if observed.

Water Quality

Water quality classification has oscillated between Good Quality and Sufficient Quality since 2011. A downgrade to Insufficient Quality occurred in 2017, followed by stabilization in Good Quality from 2017 onwards. In 2021, the site was downgraded to Sufficient Quality following a rainy season. Bacteriological water quality has improved since the initial profile establishment. The site shows significant sensitivity to rainfall events, which is the primary cause of quality downgrade episodes.

Risks

The site is sensitive to rainfall events, which cause pollution episodes. Algal development was observed during summer 2022.
