Kupalište Vira is a partially cultivated beach on the island of Hvar in Croatia. The beach features a pebble surface with concrete structures and is lined with trees. It has a moderate coastal slope and mild underwater slope, making it suitable for swimming. The beach experiences high bather density during the season and is managed as part of a campground facility.

Water

Adriatic Sea coastal bathing water. Beach length 78 metres, width 20 metres. Average sea temperature during season is 24.25°C. Salinity ranges from 37.1 to 39.6 during the season. Tide amplitude is 25.2 cm. Prevailing wind direction is north. Beach shape is indented coastline with moderate coastal slope (15–25 degrees) and mild underwater slope (less than 15 degrees).

Location

Located in Hvar, Croatia at coordinates 43.1924°N, 16.4312°E. The beach is accessible via asphalt road. Paid parking is available at the site.

Sanitary facilities, shower, restaurant, café bar, sea buoys, floating safety lines at beach front, boat docking available on the beach, land sports, trash cans, auxiliary facilities, parking area.

Season

Annual monitoring conducted with 10 samples per year from 2009 to 2025. Four-year rolling assessment periods evaluated with 40 total samples.

Water Quality

Water quality has been assessed annually since 2009 under both Croatian regulation and EU Directive 2006/7/EZ. Final assessment periods have been evaluated based on 40 samples each. Recent classifications include excellent, good, sufficient, and poor ratings.
