Water Quality

Water quality classification follows Decreto-Lei 135/2009 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Sampling frequency is every two weeks. Potential microbiological pollution sources include faecal contamination, which may originate mainly from the sewerage network. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution from illegal wastewater discharges is unlikely but possible. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential is very low with no historical record of occurrence. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation potential is low with no historical record of occurrence.
