Bathing water monitoring covers the full four-year period of bathing seasons for long-term quality assessment.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified on a four-tier scale: excellent quality, good quality, sufficient quality, and poor quality. Long-term quality assessment is based on four years of monitoring data using statistical analysis. Operational assessment follows microbiological criteria: E. coli and intestinal enterococci counts. Bathing is prohibited if E. coli exceeds 3000 CFU/100 ml or intestinal enterococci exceed 500 CFU/100 ml. Bathing is not recommended if E. coli is 2000–3000 CFU/100 ml or enterococci are 300–500 CFU/100 ml. Excessive cyanobacterial growth also prohibits bathing.

Risks

Potential for cyanobacterial blooms (algal blooms). Pollution sources are assessed and characterized in the profile. Risk assessment includes evaluation of faecal contamination pathways and factors promoting cyanobacterial proliferation.
