Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

The Badesee Halen is an 11-hectare bathing lake in the municipality of Emstek, created through the reuse of a former gravel pit. The lake features a sandy beach and large meadow areas for sunbathing and recreation. The bathing beach on the southern part of the lake has separate areas for swimmers and non-swimmers. A kiosk, changing rooms, and shower facilities are available on-site.

Water

Inland lake. Area: 11 hectares. Water clarity: visibility exceeds 2 meters throughout the year. The lake is fed exclusively by groundwater.

Location

Located in Halen, municipality of Emstek, approximately 10 km northeast of Cloppenburg. Accessible via federal roads B213 and B72. From B213 (Ahlhorn/Cloppenburg), follow signs toward Emstek and then take Baumwegstrasse directly to the lake. From B72 (Cloppenburg/Vechta), drive directly into Emstek and follow signs to the bathing lake. Well-developed cycle and pedestrian paths are available at all access points.

Lifeguards (DLRG) during bathing season. Kiosk. Changing rooms and shower facilities. Large meadow area for sunbathing and recreation. Separate swimming and non-swimming areas.

Monitored and guarded during the official bathing season.

Water Quality

EU classification: Excellent quality (percentile assessment according to Directive 2006/7/EG). No microbiological deficiencies have been identified in recent years. Balanced water biology with no impairment from local fishing association use. No excessive algae growth, particularly blue-green algae, has been observed.
