Baleal Sul is one of three beaches in the Baleal area, located in Peniche municipality. It is characterized by calmer sea conditions compared to Baleal Norte beach, making it less attractive to surfers. The bathing water has no history of short-term pollution events and no significant microbiological pollution sources in the surrounding area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on 2020 assessment (Decree-Law 135/09). No significant microbiological pollution sources identified in the area of influence. No history of short-term pollution events (less than 72 hours duration). Zero days of bathing prohibition or advice against bathing due to short-term pollution in the 2021 bathing season.

Risks

Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation all rated as unlikely. A warning system is in place to advise against bathing if pollution risks occur.
