Coastal water body. Beach area extends 1.45 square kilometers. Sandy-pebbly beach with seafloor slope of 1.7% from shoreline to 5-meter depth. Sediment grain size 0.13–2 mm.

Location

Crotone, Calabria, in the province of Crotone. The area is situated in front of forested territories south of the town centre of Crotone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water is monitored by the Calabria Region, the Municipality, the local health authority (ASP), emergency services (118), and the regional environmental agency (Arpacal).

Risks

The Vallone Prestica I watercourse outlet has been identified as a potential pollution source. Cyanobacteria proliferation events have not been verified in the past four years. Macroalgae, phytoplankton, and potentially toxic species proliferation has not been verified.
