Casello FS n. 28 is a bathing water area located in Petacciato, Molise region, characterized by medium-fine sand with pebbles and rounded to sub-rounded gravel of varying sizes. The beach features dunes and is moderately wide, spanning approximately 50 to 70 metres. The bathing area extends 1683 metres and is situated between the mouth of Torrente Mergola and the mouth of Torrente Tecchio.

Location

Petacciato municipality in the Province of Campobasso, Molise region. The nearest city is Termoli. The area is part of the Trigno River basin.

Water Quality

Wastewater from the inhabited centre is conveyed to treatment plants via three collectors that merge upstream of the main treatment facility, serving approximately 3600 inhabitants. The main treatment plant uses activated sludge technology with sedimentation basins, automatic screening, sand removal, oil removal, aeration, secondary oxidation in circular tanks, and final disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. A separate treatment facility serves the marina area with capacity for approximately 8000 inhabitants, using activated sludge technology with mechanical screening, sand and oil removal, pre-denitrification, nitrification, final sedimentation, disinfection, sludge digestion, and mechanical dehydration.
