Centro Spiaggia Arenauta is a bathing water area located in Gaeta, Lazio, along the coast between Porto San Felice Circeo and Punta Stendardo. The beach features a sandy structure with equipped bathing areas. The surrounding area includes significant tourism infrastructure and urbanised zones.

Coastal marine bathing water. The monitored area extends 1015 metres along the coast.

Location

Gaeta, Latina Province, Lazio Region, Italy. The bathing area extends along the coast from Porto San Felice Circeo to Punta Stendardo.

Facilities

Equipped bathing areas present. Lifeguard, toilet, shower, and disabled access facilities are standard at this equipped beach area.

Season

Monitoring and assessment profile dated March 2011, with review and update scheduled for 2012.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Elevato (Excellent). Monitoring includes evaluation of bacterial parameters at 95th and 90th percentiles. One active urban wastewater treatment plant serving over 2000 population equivalents in the municipality. Mollusc culture identified as a pollution source. No active specific monitoring programmes are currently in place to monitor pollutant concentrations during the bathing season.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events are still being studied with regard to appropriate modelling approaches. Shellfish farming operations present in the area.
