28 June to 9 September 2025. Sampling frequency every 2 weeks.

Water Quality

Water quality classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/2009 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Faecal contamination may originate from tributaries Canada and Congida streams or from malfunction of Freixo de Espada à Cinta wastewater treatment plant or pumping station. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution events in the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution unlikely but possible from increased tributary flow after heavy rainfall carrying microbiological load, or from untreated effluent discharges. Cyanobacteria and macroalgae proliferation likely with historical occurrence. Phytoplankton proliferation unlikely.
