Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms present a risk at bathing sites. Excessive cyanobacterial proliferation prohibits bathing. Operational assessment indicates swimming is not recommended if E. coli counts exceed 1000 but do not surpass 3000 cells/100 ml and/or intestinal enterococci counts exceed 300 but do not surpass 500 cells/100 ml. Swimming is prohibited if E. coli exceeds 3000 cells/100 ml and/or enterococci exceeds 500 cells/100 ml.
