Embalse Arcos (Arcos Reservoir), also known as El Santiscal. Located in the Guadalete-Barbate hydrographic district. The riverbed comprises gravel and boulders.

Location

Arcos de la Frontera, Cádiz province, Andalucía. Access via the CA-6107 road from Arcos de la Frontera for approximately 2 km, then left onto A-372/Ctra de Arcos-El Bosque, left onto Avenida del Sombrero de tres picos, then right at the roundabout (third exit) onto Avenida de la diputación. Parking is available.

Parking available. Information signs present. Boat dock available. Recreational area available. No lifeguard posts. No toilets. No showers. No bars or snack bars. No trash bins. No waste collection information.

Water Quality

The bathing area showed elevated total chlorophyll concentrations. Potentially toxic cyanobacterial taxa were present. Cyanotoxins detected, specifically microcystin. Identified pollution sources include nearby population sewage systems, dwellings and businesses, livestock farming (cattle manure), crops and pastures, and user self-contamination. Sewage episodes of short duration and unpredictable frequency occur, particularly on weekends.
