Etang Aume

France Lake 1 - Excellent

Étang Aumée is a 110-hectare artificial pond located in Fégréac, Loire-Atlantique, created in 1878 as a water reserve for the Nantes-Brest Canal. The pond is fed primarily by the Ruisseau Le Héleu and experiences minimal water level fluctuations of less than 50 cm. The site is popular for recreational activities during summer months, including water sports, picnicking, and fishing.

Water

Artificial pond covering 110 hectares with a drainage basin of 1510 hectares. Marnage (water level variation) is minimal at less than 50 cm, causing approximately 1.5 to 2 metres of beach exposure. Water discharge is managed through a hydraulic structure operated by the Département Council 44.

Location

Fégréac, Loire-Atlantique, 9 km south of Redon and 60 km northwest of Nantes. The bathing area is situated on the pond's shoreline with parking and recreational facilities available.

Facilities

Sanitary block with autonomous septic system on-site, picnic tables, recreational play area, water sports activities zone (catamaran, windsurfing) located on the Saint-Nicolas de Redon side.

Water Quality

Water quality classification shows no peaks in bacterial or cyanobacterial pollution in recent years. The bathing profile was developed without pre-identified pollution risks. The pond is not subject to parasitic water discharge and no sewage networks are located nearby.
