The Haspelschiedt municipal camping beach is a supervised bathing area located on an artificial lake in northeastern France. The beach features 30 meters of monitored swimming space with fine Rhine sand that enhances water clarity. The lake itself is 2,300 meters long, averages 100 meters wide, and reaches approximately 4 meters depth in its central section. The bathing area opened in 2014 and operates seasonally during summer months with lifeguard supervision.

Water

Artificial lake (retenue d'eau) covering 34 hectares. Length: 2,300 meters. Average width: 100 meters. Maximum depth: approximately 4 meters in the central third. Water flows from south to north following the Schwarzbach stream current. The supervised bathing zone measures 30 meters long and 10 meters wide.

Location

Haspelschiedt, Moselle department, northeastern France. The bathing area is part of the municipal camping zone, accessible via marked pathways. Parking is available in the area below the entrance and along the street leading to the leisure zone and municipal camping.

Facilities

Lifeguard station with rescue equipment and defibrillator. Sanitary facilities (toilets/showers) located dozens of meters from the bathing zone. Welcome chalet. Grocery shop. Playground with swings and slides. Volleyball court. Badminton court. Pétanque court. Family picnic zone with centralized barbecue. Information display board. Flag system (green, orange, red) indicating bathing conditions.

Season

2015 season: 1 July to 30 August. Operating hours: 14:00 to 18:00 daily; 14:00 to 19:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Bathing unsupervised on Mondays at swimmers' own risk.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored through sampling points located within the bathing zone. Monitoring is conducted by laboratory analysis following French and European regulations. Priority is given to bacteriological parameters: E. coli and enterococci.

Risks

Water quality monitoring addresses bacteriological contamination, cyanobacteria proliferation potential, and interspecies contamination risks. Limited submerged vegetation (sparse grass covering a few square meters) present upstream and downstream of the bathing zone.
