Water

Lake Léman (also known as Lake Geneva), a large alpine lake located in the Chablais region. The bathing areas are situated on the lake's shoreline within the municipality of Évian-les-Bains.

Évian-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie, France (postal code 74500). The bathing areas include the Plage de la piscine d'Évian (Évian swimming pool beach) and the Plage du parc Dolfuss (Parc Dolfuss beach).

Water Quality

Water quality has been classified according to Directive 2006/7/CE applicable to inland waters. ARS bacteriological analyses from 2009 to 2018 were conducted, with results classified into quality categories. Self-monitoring analyses were performed at both bathing sites from 2010 to 2018. Algal monitoring was conducted using AlgaeTorch probes to assess macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation potential.

Risks

Multiple potential contamination sources were identified, including wastewater discharge systems, storm water outfalls, and several streams (Léchère, Bocquies, Grange-Gallay, Détanche, Martelay, Larringes, Bennevy, Nant d'Enfer, Chavannes, Grottes, Oustalet, and Forchez). Wastewater treatment infrastructure was evaluated, including a sewage pumping station and storm water overflow systems.
