Siouville-Hague beach, located in the Manche department of France, is a bathing area situated facing the SNSM (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) rescue post. The beach is subject to water quality monitoring under European Directive 2006/7/CE. A vulnerability profile was established to identify and assess pollution sources affecting bathing water quality and public health protection.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored under European Directive 2006/7/CE and its French transposition. Historical classifications were made under Directive 76/160/CEE. The monitoring program includes assessment of fecal contamination indicators and classification according to the new Directive 2006/7/CE framework, with a target of achieving 'sufficient quality' by 2015.

Risks

Identified potential pollution sources include domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater runoff, agricultural activities, artisanal and industrial activities, port and mooring zones, camping and mobile home areas, and thalassotherapy facilities.
