Flakensee Woltersdorf Zeltplatz E 42

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Flakensee is a lake located east of Berlin in the transition zone between the Barnim Plateau and the Berlin-Fürstenwalde Spree Valley Lowland. The lake has a surface area of 67 hectares and a maximum depth of 8 metres. It is part of a channel formed during the last ice age by meltwater flowing beneath a glacier. The lake receives inflow from the Löcknitz river from the south and the Rüdersdorfer Mühlenfließ from the north. Water quality has improved significantly since the 1980s, with summer visibility depths now ranging between 2 and 3 metres in the open water.
