The bathing area at Foce Sinni in Rotondella, Basilicata, is located along a coastal stretch extending from the Sinni River to the Agri River. The monitoring point is positioned 800 metres south of the Sinni River mouth. Most of the coastline is inaccessible by public roads except for Lido di Rotondella, which is reached via provincial road and has been developed with urban facilities and dune restoration works.

Coastal marine water bounded by coordinates 40.137915 -16.673496 to 40.146714 -16.685795. The bathing area extends along the coast between the Sinni River and the Agri River.

Location

Rotondella, Province of Matera, Basilicata region. Accessible via provincial road to Lido di Rotondella. Most of the coastal area is not accessible by public roads.

Season

1 May to 30 September. Monitoring period: 1 April to 30 September with monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Classification period: 2017–2020. Monthly sampling conducted from 1 April to 30 September. No bathing prohibitions were in effect during the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

Non-bathing zones are designated around two discharge points: Canale-Bosco della Rivolta discharge (40-metre width corridor) and Canale Consorzio di Bonifica–Torrente della Rivolta discharge.
