Fossettes Beach is a public bathing zone located on the peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France. The beach is covered with gravel and is situated within a Mediterranean coastal landscape characterized by scenic views of the open sea, Beaulieu-sur-Mer bay, and Villefranche-sur-Mer. The bathing zone is designated with Index A classification as of May 2024. The beach offers access via a stairway and is equipped with seasonal facilities including showers.

Mediterranean Sea bathing zone located in the Anse des Fossettes (Fossettes Cove). The water is classified as marine coastal waters.

Location

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Alpes-Maritimes, France. The beach is located on a peninsula forming a Y-shape, approximately 250 hectares in area. Access is provided via a stairway to the beach.

Facilities

Showers available during summer season. Waste bins and signage are in place. Public access via stairway.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Index A (as of May 2024). Monitoring data from 2013 to 2023 shows historical sanitary classifications. Escherichia coli and fecal streptococci levels have been monitored, with limit values defined between good/average (100/100mL) and average/poor (1000/100mL) ratings.

Risks

Wild boat mooring occurs in the Fossettes Cove. The Haliotis wastewater treatment plant (STEP Haliotis) in Nice has a discharge point to the Mediterranean Sea, representing a potential pollution source. Precipitation and hydrographic network patterns may influence water quality.
