Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. The area is part of the Marta hydrographic basin. No active monitoring programs are currently in place to monitor pollutant concentrations during the bathing season. No urban wastewater treatment plants serving populations over 2000 inhabitant equivalents are present in the municipality.

Risks

Mollusk farming activities are present in the area. Short-duration pollution events are under study with an appropriate modeling approach still being developed.
