Fosso Melona is a bathing water area located on Lake Bolsena in the Lazio region. The swimming area spans 674 metres and is situated at an altitude of 538 metres above sea level. The beach structure is predominantly sandy with no equipped areas. The water body is part of the Marta hydrographic basin.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. No active monitoring is currently in place to measure concentrations of pollutants during the bathing season. There are no urban wastewater treatment plants serving more than 2000 population equivalents in the municipality.

Risks

Mollusc farming is present. Possible sources of short-duration pollution are still under study. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded in the previous four years. No toxic effects on swimmers or aquatic organisms have been documented.
