Zannone island, municipality of Ponza Zannone, province of Latina, Lazio region. The nearest town is Ponza.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. The bathing water is monitored according to standards set by Directive 91/271/CE. Monitoring for pollutant concentration is not currently active. One urban wastewater treatment plant serving over 2000 inhabitants is operational in the reference municipality.

Risks

Mollusk farming (molluschicoltura) is identified as a source of impact on the bathing water. Short-term pollution events may occur, though an adequate modelling approach is still under study.
