Göttlin Biwakplatz is a bathing site on the Havel River in the Lower Havel Lowlands, a protected area that forms part of the West Havelland Nature Park and the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. The river has travelled approximately 200 km from its source in the Mecklenburg Lake District by this point. Water quality has improved significantly since the 1990s, with nutrient concentrations approximately halved and visibility depths in summer ranging from 0.5 to 2 m. The site experiences occasional cyanobacteria blooms, and in 2024 there was one exceedance of the intestinal enterococci parameter.
