Hohennauener See is a natural lake located approximately 6 km north of Rathenow in the Westhavelland Nature Park. Formed during the Brandenburg stage of the last ice age by meltwater erosion, the lake has a surface area of 427 hectares with a maximum depth of 9.2 meters. The bathing area at Ferchesar is situated in the shallower eastern section known as Ferchesaer See, which averages 3.5 meters deep. The lake is a federal waterway open to motorized traffic and is popular with water sports enthusiasts and recreational boaters.
