Water Quality

Classification: Sufficient quality. The water body is identified as Amendolara Montegiordano. Monitoring basin: Canale del Castello. No cyanobacteria or algal blooms have occurred in the sea or inland waters over the past four years.

Risks

Accidental wastewater treatment plant failures and overflow from depuration facilities in Roseto Capo Spulico (Giannelli and Piano d'Orlando locations) have been identified as pollution sources. The Canale del Castello outlet is an identified cause of contamination.
