Kirjurinluoto is a bathing beach on the Kokemäenjoki river in Pori, Finland. It features a constructed sandy beach separated from the shipping lane by a buoyed rope. The beach is situated in a park-like setting within a national urban park area. Water depth during the swimming season ranges from 0.4 to 0.2 metres. The beach has a sandy bottom with some muddy areas.

Water

Kokemäenjoki river. The river is dammed and regulated for hydropower purposes with an average flow rate of approximately 240 cubic metres per second at Harjavalta. The water is coloured by humus and becomes turbid, especially below the confluence with the Loimijoki river. Turbidity varies significantly, being highest during heavy rainfall or snowmelt events.

Located in Pori, Finland at Kapellimestarinkatu, 28100 Pori. Coordinates: 21.7903 longitude, 61.4916 latitude.

Facilities

Information board, rescue boat and ring, four rubbish bins, toilets for men and women, accessible toilet (Inva-WC), changing rooms for men and women, showers, shower on the beach, benches, children's spring rides. No lifeguards on duty.

Season

One water sample is taken approximately two weeks before the start of each swimming season. At least three samples are analysed during the swimming season with sampling intervals not exceeding one month.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as good for swimming seasons 2015–2019. The Kokemäenjoki river has satisfactory overall status. Oxygen conditions are currently good. Total phosphorus and nitrogen content vary with seasonal conditions and runoff. Cyanobacteria have not been detected in laboratory tests but have occurred irregularly in late August during some past seasons following prolonged warm periods.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can occur during prolonged warm and rainy periods, typically in late summer. Occasional fuel leaks or bilge water from boats at nearby Taavistie marina. Weather conditions affect water quality, particularly after heavy rainfall or snowmelt.
