Klaffer Badesee is a lake originally created by Stift Schlägl monastery for fish farming. It covers approximately 40,000 m² with a maximum depth of 6 m. The lake is fed by a stream originating entirely in the Böhmerwald region. The water displays a distinct brown coloration and sometimes considerable cloudiness due to high levels of humic and mineral substances. Extreme temperature stratification often occurs in summer, with cold water in deeper layers while the surface warms significantly.
