Kubija Beach is located on the south-eastern shore of Kubija Lake in Võru city, Estonia. The beach is approximately 100 meters long with a width ranging from 10 to 60 meters, extending through a pine forest to Männiku Street. The beach has been a popular summer recreation destination for local residents and tourists. A sandy beach area, a wooden boardwalk along the water's edge, and pine forest shade are available for visitors. The beach can accommodate approximately 200 people during peak sunny days, though typical daily visitors range from 50 to 150 people.

Water

Kubija Lake is a north-west to south-east oriented body of water with a surface area of 13.6 hectares (15.9 hectares in some records). The lake has a maximum depth of 5 meters and an average depth of 2.5 meters. Lake length is 865 meters, width is 210 meters, and the shoreline is 2502 meters long. The lake shores are relatively shallow, sandy, and covered with pine forest.

Location

Võru city, southern district (Kubija district), Võrumaa region. The beach is located on the south-eastern shore of Kubija Lake. Parking is available approximately 100 meters away on the opposite side of Männiku Street. Visitors access the beach via a forest path beginning from Männiku Street. Kubija Hotel is located 150 meters from the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguard building, separate toilet facility with drinking water access, changing cabins, waste bins of various sizes, information board displaying water and air temperature, wind and wave strength information, beach rules notice, swimming area marked with buoys, swimming platform, diving tower. Motorized watercraft are prohibited. Dogs and other pets are not permitted on the beach.

Water quality monitoring results from 2016-2019 are documented. The beach profile includes assessment of potential pollution sources and risk evaluation. Regular monitoring is conducted at a designated monitoring point.

Risks

Potential pollution sources are identified and assessed in the profile. Evaluation of short-term pollution risk, other pollution sources, and potential cyanobacterial bloom occurrence are included in the risk assessment.
