Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017-2020). The main potential pollution source is the Fasano-Forcatelle wastewater treatment plant located at the southern boundary, which discharges treated effluent from civil and industrial settlements directly to sea.

Risks

No short-duration pollution events have been recorded in the last four years. The area is not characterized by algal or cyanobacterial blooms. No cases of potentially toxic algal proliferation have been detected in the last four years.
