Fontugne Beach is located in Gluiras in the Ardèche department of France. The beach is situated on a river water body in a rural area with mixed land uses including agriculture and forestry. The site has been subject to a comprehensive bathing water profile study conducted in 2025 to assess water quality, identify pollution sources, and establish management measures.

Water Quality

Bacteriological monitoring has been conducted. Water transparency and algae/cyanobacteria data have been collected. No cases of dermatitis or leptospirosis were specifically reported in the study sections reviewed.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified in the study zone include domestic wastewater, stormwater and runoff, human frequentation contamination risks, animal frequentation, flood risk and incidence of high water events, agricultural activities, and parking/access routes.
