Lac De Chour

France Lake 1 - Excellent

Lac de Chour is a lake-based bathing area located in the municipalities of Pagny le château and Franxault in Burgundy, France. The site encompasses approximately 48 hectares, of which 38 hectares is water. A designated swimming zone of 2,100 square metres is monitored and equipped with safety infrastructure. The lake is surrounded by a 2.7-kilometre pedestrian path and offers picnic areas, petanque courts, and recreational facilities. Dogs are prohibited around the lake.

Water

Endogenous lake with approximately 38 hectares of water surface. The designated swimming zone measures 70 metres in length and 30 metres in width (2,100 square metres). Water level variations are primarily seasonal rather than wave-driven.

Location

Pagny le château 21250 and Franxault 21170, France. The bathing area has approximately 200 parking spaces, including 6 spaces reserved for persons with reduced mobility and space for bicycles and motorcycles.

Facilities

One rescue post equipped with a first aid kit and defibrillator. Lifeguard on duty during supervised swimming season (mobile surveillance). Sanitary block with 4 toilets (including 1 for disabled persons), 3 washbasins, and daily cleaning and disinfection. Drinking water available at the restaurant pavilion. Two petanque courts, picnic area with shaded zones and wooden tables, and signage for safety standards and flag colour meanings. Barrier system to prevent motor vehicle access to the relaxation zone. Six waste bins for selective sorting of refuse.

Season

1 July to 31 August, with opening hours from 11:00 to 19:00.

Water Quality

Water samples are collected by the departmental laboratory of Côte d'Or (LDCO) at a distance of 1 metre from the shore. The lake receives no external polluting discharges as it is endogenous.
