Lac De Tremelin

Trémelin is a shallow inland lake located in the Iffendic municipality in Brittany, France, approximately 30 km west of Rennes. The lake covers 45 hectares within a 220-hectare forest domain and is the second most visited tourist site in Ille-et-Vilaine. The lake and surrounding heathland are designated as a Natura 2000 protected area. The lake supports multiple recreational uses including swimming, fishing, sailing, and water sports, with an on-site beach on the northern shore near the municipal campground and sailing school.

Water

Shallow inland lake (étang) with a maximum depth of 5.6 metres and average depth of 2.3 metres. Surface area of 45 hectares. Located at low altitude at 93 metres elevation. The watershed feeding the lake covers approximately 2 km² and is composed primarily of forests (58%) and grasslands (16%), with secondary intensive agriculture (6%).

Location

Iffendic municipality, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, France, approximately 30 km west of Rennes. The beach is located on the northern shore of the lake, near the municipal campground and sailing school.

Facilities

Beach with supervised swimming during afternoons in July and August. Camping with 100 pitches. Sailing school and water sports base. Pedalo hire, electric boats, kayak rentals, mini-golf, playground. Pedestrian trail and horse/mountain bike paths around the lake. 20 gîtes available year-round. Accommodation facilities including reception halls for events.

Season

July and August. Swimming is authorized and monitored daily in the afternoons during this period.

Water Quality

Monitoring results show no identified bacteriological risk at the site. Cyanobacteria proliferation and bacterial contamination were identified as potential risks requiring assessment.
