Lahdenperän is a shallow, sheltered sandy beach bathing area on Eurajoen Strait in the Bothnian Sea. The water is a sandy-bottomed marine environment that deepens gradually and evenly. The beach features a sports field where football, beach volleyball, petanque and disc golf can be played, a playground, and a barbecue shelter.

Water

Marine water body (Eurajoen Strait in the Selkämeri/Bothnian Sea). Water clarity: 1.5 m. Turbidity: 5.4 FNU. pH: 7.8. Chlorophyll-a: 5.9. Total phosphorus: 22. Total nitrogen: 380. The beach has a sandy bottom with no steep depth variations.

Location

Located in Eurajoki municipality at Verkkokarintie 606, 27100 Eurajoki. The nearest major city is Pori. Coordinates: 21.5660 longitude, 61.2410 latitude.

Facilities

Separate sauna and toilet buildings accessible to the public several times per week. Sports field with equipment for football, beach volleyball, petanque and disc golf available when staff present. Playground and barbecue shelter on site. No lifeguard service.

At least four water samples taken during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as good or excellent in previous seasons (2015–2018). Monitoring conducted with at least four samples during the bathing season. In August 2018, enterococcus levels exceeded the regulatory threshold; retesting confirmed compliance with quality standards. No significant cyanobacteria blooms observed. Water quality assessed sensory during sampling and when results are delivered to the beach.

Risks

Significant cyanobacteria blooms not observed, though conditions such as sunny, warm, calm weather combined with high nutrient levels can promote algal growth. Heavy rainfall, flooding and snowmelt may transport excess nutrients and contaminants to the water body. Harbour operations and potential oil spills from shipping accidents near Eurajoki port present risks. Industrial operations and nuclear power plant activities have not caused harm to date but could in accident scenarios.
