Water Quality

Water quality is classified and monitored under Directive 2006/7/CE. Bacteriological quality assessment is conducted with daily concentration threshold exceedances recorded. The beach has a history of closures. Water quality is influenced by wastewater treatment systems, stormwater systems, non-collective sanitation, and port activities.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include wastewater discharge, stormwater systems, non-collective sanitation, fishing and pleasure ports, diffuse pollution from camping and recreational activities, and inter-human contamination. Risk of macroalgae proliferation, phytoplankton proliferation, and cyanobacteria proliferation has been evaluated. Jellyfish invasion episodes have been documented.
