Plage du Loguy is a bathing beach located in Pénestin, a commune in Morbihan, Brittany, at the mouth of the Vilaine estuary. The beach has low average daily attendance during the bathing season. The water quality has been consistently excellent over recent years, with stable monitoring results showing excellent classification under the 2006/7/CE directive for the periods 2004-2007 through 2007-2010.

Water Quality

Water quality is excellent but slightly unstable. Under the 2006/7/CE directive, the beach achieved excellent classification for all four monitoring periods from 2004-2007 through 2007-2010. Under the previous 76/160/CEE directive, classifications ranged from 9A (good quality) in 2007 to 10A in 2009-2010. Pollution episodes were recorded on 10 July 2001 and 31 August 2004, both of bacteriological origin, though neither resulted in swimming bans.

Risks

Potential sources of pollution identified include non-compliant sanitation systems at 250 m distance, malfunctioning pump station with overflow risk at 75 m distance, and a small watercourse (Petit cours d'eau du Loguy) at 10 m distance. All three sources have been assessed as having medium impact on bathing water quality.
