Leopoldsteiner See is a glacial lake located approximately 4 km northeast of Eisenerz at the foot of the Hochschwab massif. The lake covers an area of approximately 40 hectares with a length of around 1.2 km and maximum width of around 400 m.

Water

Alpine lake with a maximum depth of 31 m and mean depth of 18 m. Fed by the Seeaubach stream and karst springs. The catchment area is composed primarily of carbonate rocks from the Hochschwab, with slate, glacial deposits, and scree in the immediate surroundings.

Location

Located 4 km northeast of Eisenerz in a narrow valley basin. The bathing area is situated at the eastern end of the lake near the Seeaubach stream mouth.

Risks

A spawning protection area with bathing prohibition exists in the western section of the lake.
