Antibes Juan-les-Pins has 23 kilometres of coastline divided into three zones by the Cap d'Antibes: Antibes Est, Cap Est, and Juan-les-Pins. The bathing water quality is monitored through 23 sampling sites distributed along the entire coastline. Antibes Est extends from the eastern municipal boundary to Fort Carré and contains 6 bathing points. The area experiences a Mediterranean climate with dry summers, intense storm rainfall, and significant precipitation in autumn and spring.

Water

Coastal Mediterranean waters. Bathymetric profiles show varying depths: the Cap d'Antibes rocky coast has rapidly decreasing depths, Ponteil/Salis beaches have regular depths with gentle slope, and Fort Carré beach has gentle slope to 20 metres depth (3% gradient) followed by steep drop to 30% gradient. The Golfe-Juan reaches depths beyond 500 metres approximately 5 kilometres offshore.

Location

Antibes Est zone extends from the eastern municipal boundary to Fort Carré. Specific bathing points include Limite de Commune Est (Route Départementale 6098), Les Groules (Route Départementale 6098), and Marineland (Route Départementale 6098). Parking information is not specified.

Marineland: lifeguard post present, disabled toilet facilities, 14 bins, 9 showers, 1 toilet, 1 washbasin, potable water, information signs with bathing water results and safety hygiene instructions.

Water Quality

All three monitored bathing points in Unit 1 (Limite de Commune Est, Les Groules, Marineland) have been classified as excellent quality continuously since 2013 according to Directive 2006/7/CE. Pollution sources are few, simple and well-known, including wastewater discharge from Marineland. Temporary bathing prohibitions occurred on 4-5 June 2020 and 22-24 September 2020 due to sewage network overload from storms.

Risks

Private wastewater network from La Siesta establishment. No ramped disabled access at any of the three bathing points. Animal access prohibited at all locations.
