Lido Azzurro is a sandy beach located in Montauro, Calabria, situated along the Stretto coast. The beach has a gentle slope with an average gradient of 2% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath. Sediment grain size ranges from 0.13 to 2 mm. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality.

Location

Montauro, Catanzaro Province, Calabria. The area is located in front of the town centre of Montauro.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The water body is San Sostene - Stalettì. Monitoring is carried out by Regione Calabria, the Municipality, ASP, and Arpacal.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from surface runoff originating in urban areas have been identified, affecting the Fosso Pignatello and Vallone Franco watercourses. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have occurred in the past four years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been recorded.
