Lido Scacchi - punto A is a sandy beach of particular tourist interest located on the Northern Coastal Area in Emilia-Romagna. The beach forms part of a 15 km coastal stretch bounded to the north by Sacca di Goro and to the south by Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi. The beach is protected by 10 breakwaters averaging 100 m in length, spaced 20 m apart and oriented southwest to northeast. The surrounding zone experiences high tourist activity with numerous hotels and bathing establishments.

Coastal marine water of the Northern Coastal Area. The water body covers 1.349 km². The beach is subject to sand replenishment interventions.

Location

Comacchio, Ferrara Province, Emilia-Romagna Region. Coordinates: 12.2424°E, 44.7054°N. The area extends from north (12.2412°E, 44.7116°N) to south (12.2405°E, 44.6996°N). Beach width is 60–80 metres. Ten bathing establishments provide first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled visitors, hot showers, and food service points.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 12 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 13 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 12 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 13 CFU/100 ml. No direct discharge points or watercourses discharge into the bathing water area.

Risks

Macroalgae proliferation of genus Ulva occurred during July–August 2018 in the central-northern coastal section, causing modifications to recreational use during biomass accumulation phases. No cyanobacterial eutrophication events reported. No phytoplankton toxicity recorded.
