Lido Pomposa - punto A is a sandy beach of significant tourist interest located on the Adriatic coast in the Emilia-Romagna region. The beach, spanning 50–70 metres in width, is part of a 15 km coastal stretch protected by 12 breakwaters spaced 20 metres apart. The area experiences high tourist activity with numerous hotels and beach facilities. The beach is maintained through periodic sand replenishment interventions to manage erosion.

Water

Coastal marine water body classified as alluvial plain with high stability. Total area of 1.487 km². No rivers discharge into these waters and there are no direct sea discharges in the area.

Location

Located in Comacchio, Ferrara Province, Emilia-Romagna region. The beach is bounded to the north by Sacca di Goro and to the south by Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi. The surrounding area has high tourist utilization with numerous hotels and beach establishments.

Facilities

12 beach establishments offering first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, barrier-free access, sports facilities, and food services.

Season

Monitoring conducted during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No short-term pollution events or anomalous situations were recorded during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia Coli at 90th percentile: 28 CFU/100ml; at 95th percentile: 35 CFU/100ml. Intestinal Enterococci at 90th percentile: 12 CFU/100ml; at 95th percentile: 13 CFU/100ml. No direct pollution sources from wastewater treatment or point discharges.

Risks

Beach subject to erosion maintained in equilibrium through periodic sand replenishment. Phytoplankton blooms of Fibrocapsa japonica were not recorded during 2015–2018. Macroalgae proliferation of Ulva genus occurred during July–August 2018 in the central northern coastal section, affecting recreational use during biomass accumulation.
