Lido Spina - punto C is a sandy beach in Comacchio, Emilia-Romagna, characterized by dunes and wetland areas of significant tourist and naturalistic interest. The beach is mostly free and forms part of a 5.7 km stretch of homogeneous coastline bounded to the north by Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi and to the south by the mouth of Canale Bellocchio. The beach is experiencing erosion but is subject to periodic sand replenishment interventions. There are no protective breakwaters present.

Water

Coastal marine waters in a flat alluvial zone with high stability. Beach width ranges from 50 to 240 metres. The bathing area extends 2.477 km. No rivers or direct discharges flow into these waters.

Location

Located in Comacchio, Province of Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna region. The beach is situated along the Northern Coastal Area between Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi to the north and Canale Bellocchio mouth to the south.

Facilities

Eight beach facilities with first aid services, toilet facilities including disabled access, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports structures, and food services.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia Coli: 90th percentile 17 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile 19 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal Enterococci: 90th percentile 12 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile 13 CFU/100 ml. No short-duration pollution events were recorded during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No anomalous situations were recorded during 2015–2018 bathing seasons.

Risks

Macroalgae proliferation: no blooms recorded in 2015–2017, but proliferation of Ulva genus macroalgae occurred in July–August 2018 in the north-central coastal stretch, causing modifications to bathing area enjoyment during biomass accumulation phase. Phytoplankton (Raphidophyceae Fibrocapsa japonica): no blooming events recorded 2015–2018. No cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena ever reported. Beach erosion present but managed through periodic sand replenishment.
