Lido Volano - punto A is a bathing water area located on a stretch of coast approximately 15 km long in northern Emilia-Romagna. The beach features fine sand and is of significant tourist interest, with long stretches of free sandy beach notable for natural characteristics including dunes in the front line and a pine forest behind. The area is classified as coastal marine water with high alluvial stability. The beach is 70–80 metres wide and is subject to periodic sand nourishment interventions due to strong erosion.

Location

Comacchio, Ferrara Province, Emilia-Romagna region, between Sacca di Goro to the north and Porto Canale di Porto Garibaldi to the south. Coordinates: centre X=12.2715° Y=44.7967°.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia Coli (90th percentile): 38 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia Coli (95th percentile): 49 CFU/100 ml. Enterococchi intestinali (90th percentile): 18 CFU/100 ml; Enterococchi intestinali (95th percentile): 21 CFU/100 ml. No direct pollution sources. No river discharges or direct outfalls to sea in the bathing water area.

Risks

Beach subject to strong erosion maintained in equilibrium through periodic sand nourishment. Po di Volano estuary mouth is a pressure factor located north of the bathing area. Macroalgae proliferation (Ulva genus) occurred during July–August 2018 in the central-northern coastal stretch, causing modifications to recreational use during biomass accumulation.
